Finally, after short-sale in 2012 with our townhouse, we purchased a home here in Virginia. Its actually a few streets away from the rental we live in. My wife and I are so excited because after renting for 12 years and getting ripped off (paying $1900 a month) we can live in our own house with no mortgage. Patience pays off! We were blessed the owners were willing to go down $35K from their asking price and my inheritance covered the rest. Specs: Year built 1974 1700 SF 4 Bedrooms 2 Bathrooms Large Den Garage It will need some work of course. We plan to remove some walls in the living/dining room to open it up so the kitchen and living room are all one space. I'm going to paint the den and make it into my office. Then I'm going to build the garage into a recording studio. To top-it-off, we are surrounded by trees on the property and forest everywhere in the neighborhood.
Thanks guys! Yeah, we'll make it a bit more modern and then add square footage to the Garage. I can't wait! I've been renting way too long!
What a beautiful way to step into ownership. having got free of a mortgage just recently I can say you don't realize how good it is all at once, it takes years of quite satisfaction for it to sink in. starting right now! ":O)
Thanks Daniel! We are so excited to make it our house and eventually have grandkids come to visit. I'm going to build a recording studio/movie theater in the garage. I can't wait to start!

Here is my plans for this house once we solidify a small loan and find a contractor: Build out garage into studio/theater Remodel downstairs bathroom Spare room design into craft/guest room New kitchen countertops and sink Living/Dining/Kitchen walls & floor demo, new flooring I'm building our whole house to scale in SketchUp I'll make sure to add some photos of it

Yeah, my skater friend in Arizona made that skateboard guitar for me! It really plays and plugs in. He even gave me a slide to play it. As for favorite music, I'm a heavy metal dude. Mostly thrash metal and Djent. Meshugga Periphery Extol Demon Hunter Erra Bloodshot Dawn Veil of Maya Don't forget I'm remodeling the garage into a recording studio and home theater. I will be recording my own music in there.
