Yup, actually got it working... This is the third troublesome game I've had problems with and now it runs. The mail "hold-up" was Ubisoft game launcher (Uplay) and its communication with crytp32.dll None of the current dlls worked and it would hang, but gamers on the PlayOnLinux forum helped me get it running with an archived version of crypt32.dll from a Windows XP Service Pack 2 update. Who knew? Why it works? I have no idea... but it works! The game runs perfectly and if Uplay didn't exist, we wouldn't have any problem... Thanks for nothing UBIsoft. I will be posting a Guide next week!
Uplay needs to burn to the ground. That's really great to know, I've been meaning to pick up some AC game myself. (I'm more of an RPG/jRPG guy though, if I see something up to my tastes then.... AC will have to wait) How does it run so far? No crashes?
Whoa, how did you find this post? I just happened to be looking at it while supporting someone on the PlayOnLinux forums... I never played through the entire game, but it ran very nicely on my GeForce 550 Ti. As all the game do... I plan to test Brotherhood and Revelations in the future. All in Steam of course and then Uplay launches. So annoying!
DJ at PlayOnLinux is helping me get that crypt32.dll working as a Package, This way you can install it before installing Uplay and it will update just fine. If this work, then I can remove the "work around" from my guide. On top of that, I can test Brotherhood and Revelations
