Rule of thumb
High settings = More detail, lower frame rates
Low settings = Less detail, higher frame rates

Conclusion:
Once I got through all of the Steam and Uplay setup, Brotherhood launched perfectly and ran really well. There may be a little frame stutter during the intial loading while in a cutscene. The mouse didn't seem quite as sensitive as in Windows. A bit of jerkiness here and there, but still totally playable. Cutscenes, freerunning, quests, upgrades worked fine.

I actually own a retail version of this game. I'll be reading your guide more thoroughly this weekend and see if it works for the retail version. This game is really awesome and it would be so great to play it again.

Excellent guide.

I have a feeling the retail version will still force you to use Steam and Uplay.
Just like the retail Skyrim I have. It forced me to use Steam as well.

I played the retail on windows when it first came out. It does not force Steam, but Uplay must be used.

Good test as always, however in wine 1.7.26 assassins creed brotherhood multiplayer mode entry without problem

At simple seek punkbuster appears improvement in this wine version

:)

WHAT!!! I just saw 1.7.25 was available yesterday and now 1.7.26?

Yesterday out wine 1.7.26 around 2pm and since 15 days 1.7.25

if you want know out wine can try see wine git

http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/

In this moment finish 1st test on brotherhood in single player (since 1.7.18 i dont test, and on wine 1.7.22 performance up)

Resuming stay runs very good and multiplayer using punkbuster stay on better form in this wine version
