Please Forgive me If this seems a bit of a reach, but this is something I've long wanted to comment on.

At the very end of his career The Babe took his last at bat. The years of overweight and drink had clearly taken it's toll.
He swung at the first pitch miss and spun around and collapse to the ground.
To this day I am enraged, They laugh at him!
The man who had trilled them, They called the ball park he played in "The house that Ruth built"

He swung at the second pitch and again fell down.
Now the Sons of bitches actually booed him.
He who was the hero of their childhoods Booed him

He stood out sidethe batters box and just look up at them while they booed and called him a bum.

Then he slowly shook his head to be so forgotten.

He walked out in front of home plate and stretch out one arm and slowly waved it across the entire field before him.

Then he jabbed his finger into the air above center field. and stood there log enough to incite even louder booing.

Stepped to the plate and gave his ungrateful fans what they were so undeserving of, one more moment in which something define had revealed itself in their lives.
As these things all occurred before I was born
my memories of this are from movies and Bio pics.
But the Babe was from another world!

 
Rick thinks Wichita Lineman is the greatest country song ever, I'm not going to disagree.

I love this song.

Jimmy Webb wrote it, Glen Campbell and the Wrecking Crew on the original recording, with Carol Kaye on bass. I can remember reading that this song was the most popular radio song of the CENTURY with all the airplay it got. There was barely a day when you couldn't find it playing somewhere on FM when I was a lad of about 10 or 12 years old.

PS it's also my go-to song when I'm in a karaoke, lolz

 
And this new one from Rick, about Wes Montgomery - one of the greats of guitar who influenced, well, practically everyone.
 
Some where between my 5th and 7th birthday
They started a half hour TV show playing at noon
in San Diego.
I never got over them. My favorite is posted below.

I think not!
But like everybody else he gets to sing cowboy songs!
