Dunno Samba from Bossa Nova. There, I admitted it!

I still dunno how or why Astrud Gilberto was lured away from Mr Gilberto.

She was very beautiful, kinda forgot about that.

B.N seems to be a variation on the Samba...It may be from a neighboring country that didn't want to play Samba so they renamed it...

I really get a lick out of this one, it's like it was written for flash mobs and those who love them.

As long as we can blame it on the Bossa Nova...

As the barbaric folks that we are we can't seem to get enough war. This much I can add to that summer of war in my life, the Summer sun in the tropics is nearly unbelievably powerful. You soak up enough energy from our friend Mr Sun to power a Volkswagen bug from Boston to New York in a walk of a quarter mile. No exaggeration.

The Mosquito was quite an airplane.

In a former life I believe that I died in a German tank in North Africa. You'd think that one time of being on the wrong side of a war would be enough. As a wrote, we barbarians love war.

Nice! Darlene Love with the E Street band, minus The Boss. That is one I've never seen. Thanks George!

Some songs seem to take place in an entirely different acoustic space.
These harmonies of unhappy love, of missed understandings that we carry with us all our lives.

"The final stirrings of the human heart can only be expressed by a stringiness Zither.."
    (A very old Chinese saying.)

Teen heart trauma was never really my thing. I was of the old blues school which taught

"If you don't want me babe,
    it's a cinch I don't want you."

None of which spared me making a god damned fool of myself on numerous occasions...sigh
Yet Mr. Blue lingers on into my old age.

    With this one and me,
it was love at first sight.

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music
Would you hold it near as it were your own?

    It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
    Perhaps they're better left unsung
    I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air

    Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
    Nor wind to blow

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone

    Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
    Nor wind to blow

You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone
If you should stand then who's to guide you?

For some reason I'm not a Dead fan, much less a Dead Head. I recognize that they wrote and performed many good songs, so kudos to them.

Iirc, David Letterman featured a song by her for many of his right around Christmas shows.

She was perhaps most famous as a Phil Spector artist.
