Looking forward to it! I read from two unknown sources that Long May You Run is a tribute to a 1948 Buick hearse that Neil and his band used to get to gigs. Arrgh, and I thought it was about a person or people.
Not a microphone to be seen, I guess a lip synced performance was considered normal once upon a time. And for years later too. At least there was a flash of pyrotechnics at the end! I saw Mr Lewis perform this song live at the Seattle Opera House. Perhaps after doing the same song for decades some of the shine may wear off. He wasn't glad to be there.
Favorite new (well to me) song by an intriguing new artist. George has a netflix Bio out. For once they play entire songs! interspersed by an interview where he comes across as, well.. extremely likeable. I enjoyed his stage presence as well. a straight forward presentation that allows sincerity to take the fore. nor is he without humor Budapest George Ezra My house in Budapest My hidden treasure chest Golden grand piano My beautiful Castillo You You I'd leave it all My acres of a land I have achieved It may be hard for you to Stop and believe But for you You I'd Leave it all Give me one good reason Why I should never make a change And baby if you hold me Then all of this will go away My many artifacts The list goes on If you just say the words I'll up and run Oh, to you You I'd leave it all Give me one good reason Why I should never make a change And baby if you hold me Then all of this will go away Give me one good reason Why I should never make a change Baby if you hold me Then all of this will go away My friends and family They, don't understand They fear they'd lose so much If you take my hand But, for you You I'd lose it all Give me one good reason Why I should never make a change And baby if you hold me Then all of this will go away Give me one good reason Why I should never make a change And baby if you hold me Then all of this will go away My house in Budapest My hidden treasure chest Golden grand piano My beautiful castillo You You I'd leave it all Songwriters: George Barnett / Joel Laslett Pott Budapest lyrics © BMG Rights Management
Unable to categorize. Warning, unable to categorize, etc. He certainly has an expensive taste in guitars. The first video, Budapest is sort of happy go lucky, with plenty of bass. And the second one too. Category? Soitenly a breath of fresh air!
With one sixth of our population the Brits certainly hold their own musically. I don't understand the vive le difference between there and here. Taste is a little different there, some of their material is instantly understood on our side of the ocean and vice versa.
I find this tune to be a haunting one. A man with artistic sensibilities and one who loves children Yet so flawed that those closest to him had to put him down. BTW, WHAT a duet!! Spanish Johnny Emmylou Harris Those other years, the dusty years We drove the big hers through I tried to forget the miles we rode And Spanish Johnny too He'd sit beside a water ditch When all this herd was in And he'd never harm a child But sing to his mandolin. The old talk, the old ways, And the dealin' of our game But Spanish Johnny never spoke, But sing a song of Spain And his talk with men was vicious talk When he was drunk on gin Ah, but those were golden things He said to his mandolin. We had to stand, we tried to judge, We had to stop him then For the hand so gentle to a child Had killed so many men He died a hard death long ago before the road come in And the night before he swung He sung to his mandolin. Well, we carried him out in the mornin' sun A man that done no good And we lowered him down in the cold clay Stuck in a cross of wood And a letter we wrote to his kinfolk To tell them where he'd been And we shipped it out to Mexico, Along with his mandolin...
My browser has problems with HTML5 and H.264. Some vids from Youtube aren't supported. So I miss out on about 1 in 6 music videos. Unfortunately this is one of them. But I'm hearing it from Youtube now, I just chose a different version. Waylon Jennings is sure putting his all into this one. Interesting, the title track from this LP is a song you didn't like.
Marvin Gaye, what a superior artist! I really like this oldie, thank you for the reminder from the way back machine!
