Yes, on all counts, surprised I haven't heard more of her, though I shouldn't be, I mean where would I have heard of her...I'm a hermit! LOL
Yours is one of the few that just studder for me, I'll keep trying I think the condition is variable.
And here's another - maybe the super-coolest writer/performer of the pre-punk generation: Willy DeVille. This guy was SOOO cool. He played a lot of the local NYC clubs when I was in my teens. My friends and I snuck into CBGB's one night when we were about 17 or so, and were blown away by this guy. Sadly, he died a few years ago, leaving a massive body of work that encompassed all genres: from blues to rock, cajun to soul, he could sing ANYTHING. And his band, Mink Deville, was also a great live act that I've seen many times.
I have a twenty year period Where I was either on a farm or in a Dojo. followed by another 30 years in a deeper isolation. so basically "I got stoned and I missed it." I pretty much followed the axiom that when you find yourself in hell, keep going! So this is my first encounter with Willy (Such a beautiful Spanish name! ":O} Alas only "Maybe Tomorrow and Carmelita" played for me. But they They hit the mark. I'm wondering if perhaps you use an Asian You tube, if that might be why some music posted here Stutters so bad you can't tell what is playing. When Patti has more time we will be hitting up the library for music, I'll look for Willy when I can.":O}
David always went his own way...There's a quote that floats over the video for a moment that I can't just let go by without recondition. "Don't beat the girl out of my boy" It just doesn't get any plainer that that!
I happed to catch this on MTV when they still played music. I don't know if it's the beauty of these women or Music they seem to melt together...I know nothing of them beyond this video Surly there are no great voices here, But the message seems to go on forever. And I don't mind looking at the messenger
I don't know how well known Marc is, but has long been a favorite of mine. Yet..."When that foghorn whistle blows" is perhaps not the most literate verse as horns do not a whistle make.":O}
This is from another time, a time just before my time. Have patience it's not the usual any more, but it does sing to me.
It's an amazingly spare song. Drum, dog house bass and singer. It is one of the all time greats, I'm glad it has been covered. Some interpretations were very good. This seems off topic, but it's not. The song was performed in a later episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine. You can't say that the tune doesn't travel well!
There's a vid that's made available after "Tears.." that explains the tragedy of Mr Clapton's son's death. Sobering. It's a good song.
