Thank you very much for posting these songs of yesteryear, ThunderRd! As if I bother to listen to anything modren. Wow, I've never seen a pic or performance by Bonnie Raitt when she was that young. Certainly a good beginning! TOP is one of my tippy top favorites. I lived in the Bay Area early in their career, East Bay Grease, heyell yeah! This particular song seems overcrowded yet it's always something.
It's a great article, thank you ThunderRD! Cahuenga Blvd indeed. I lived in Studio City for maybe a year, but it was long after the "sizzling" Seventies. Wait perhaps not, '77 I believe, yes long after those pivotal times in the music biz. The article makes me miss being a musician, but I wasn't in the same city talent-wise, actually, not in the same state. My modicum of talent just h'ain't enough to pursue a professional career. It's always almost everything at times.
Another in a similar vain, there;s just something that rings true for me. And being true it is a triumph.
Thank you, the Temptations were a great group! OTOH, "Patches" is a bit too close to Step n fetchit, at least imho. Here's one that I love, not to mention that it's timeless. And so freakin' true. Go O'jays! Anthony Jackson on bass, first use of a Phaser on bass, ever. Anthony Jackson is one of the greats in bass. "For the Love of Money."
....the literalness of the accompanying pictures. Very 5th grade Sunday School.":O} The vocals, out of this world. at times I hear damnation in her voice at others salvation, quite a gal! ":O}
Unless he lived it...yes? As how many share croppers sons had to live it.? He grew up in Alabama how should he sound? And how does a 13 year old boy stepping in the job that just killed his father seem like step and fetch it? Now go walk a mile in his shoes":O}
Alrighty then, we'll have to disagree on this one. Always something. Alrighty then. Guess we'll have to disagree on this one. It's OK, we agree on the majority of your song picks. However, there's somewhat of a shortage of comments from your august self on my selections. Maybe it's just my imagination?
Oh yes, I know this one well. Heavy duty theme. Of that there is no doubt. Is this one from the short period when she and Randy Scruggs sang and played together? A masterpiece, I'm tellin' ya!
True story, the horror, the horror! My, what a graphic tune. Such a malady has certainly come up between me and a she more than once. It's ALWAYS something!
As I explained, I have a hard enough time saying anything about the songs I post. I listen I like or no, if I relate to it in a special way I try and say so. You just have to work harder to get my attention! LOL
This seems almost unique. A song pleading for National unity. I first heard this in my late teens, have loved it ever since. Well worth catching the lyrics.
Bo Diddley...Simply and directly. He taught me that it's OK to lust after your English teacher!I love the way he takes a call and shout into....Hey! Hey! Mona... You don't believe me? Then "Listen to my heart go bumpty bump.":O}
